Five minutes works for me to get my first thoughts down on paper; you can always expand on your writing and use it as an essay, diary entry, letter to a friend, a poem or blog post.

Set the scene
Describe in colourful detail where you’re sitting right now.
Describe your dream writing desk; from the desk itself to your writing instruments, pen, typewriter, computer, paper, blotter, trays; describe the shapes and colours.
Imagine you’re the servant attending to Bathsheba each time she came to King David’s palace. Describe your moral turmoil knowing the sin they were committing.
Where is the way where light dwellerth? Read Job 38:19 KJV. Imagine that God told you. Describe it in vivid detail.
Imagine that wisdom is a real person. Describe her.
Conclusion
Keep a regular writing schedule and keep the momentum. Remember, your first draft isn’t your final draft.
