We’re all born blind. Spiritually blind. Sadly, some remain so until death. But God, in His everlasting love, mercy and grace, sent Yeshua to heal us of our blindness and rescue us from outer darkness.
John’s account of Yeshua healing the blind man and the Pharisee’s reaction is a picture of our journey from our unseeing, visionless condition to seeing fully. Yeshua heals our eyes and hearts. He fully and completely wipes away the flakes of long sleep and gives us sight to discern and perceive how ignorant we are and were, and we become aware of our deep abiding need of Him.
Yeshua is the light of the world and is the very light through which we see. Through Him, we see how crippled we were by our ignorance, thinking that because we could physically see that we were right and even sinless. We see how corrupted we were, how careless of our rotting souls. So enamoured, smitten with our superior knowledge, oblivious of how plagued we were by sin.
Yeshua restores our sight, and we return to our true being, the one from God, and we’re renewed from the inside out and from the outside in. He restores us to Himself, the light of our whole world.
Pray with me
Father God,
Thank You for opening our eyes to see You! Please give us discernment to know Your ways. In Yeshua, we pray. Amen.
